A LITTLE EXTRA TIME ON HIS HANDS...

I know that most of my posts boast about how wonderful and smart my kids are. So this time I thought I would write about how the other half of our life goes! WEEK BEFORE FINALS: I hound Bradley about studying for his finals. WEEKEND BEFORE FINALS: I do not understand why everyone else is home studying for finals while Brad claims, "I'm ready mom! We've gone over it a gazillion times in class!" MORNING OF FINALS: I remind Brad to wisely use his advisory period to study for those finals. AFTER FINALS: I ask how finals went and was assured that it was a "BREEZE". FIRST DAY OF SUMMER: I check grades on line. RESULT: Brad flunks his 6-week LA final... WHAT THE..?? So... what is a parent to do? Do we punish him for not studying and flunking his final even though he passed the class with flying colors? Well, in the Patlovany house, that is grounds for punishment. No TV, cell phone, iTouch, video games or friends for a week! So what is a teenager to do with all that time? How about build a tetrahedron kite?!!! Isn't it amazing how a child can entertain himself by digging in the craft box with all this spare time on his hands!

5TH GRADE GRADUATION

I can't believe "we" are finished with elementary school... a very bittersweet time for me. Daniel had a great 5th grade year. Daniel maintained his honor roll status the entire year while staying busy with boys scouts, guitar, golf and CCE! He will be joining Bradley in middle school and will be following his footsteps and join the band. However, Daniel has chosen to play the trumpet rather than the trombone. Hmmm... I bet things are gonna get a bit loud around here! Daniel had the honor of speaking at the 5th grade graduation. We are very proud of our Daniel!!!!

GERMBUSTERS/Talent Show

There just comes a time in your life that you have to just let things go and let the kids be creative and do their own thing. RIGHT???

AWARDS BANQUET - 7TH GRADE

Brad seemed to be going non-stop this school year. In addition to keeping up with his school work, Brad participated in football, symphonic band, track, FCA, baseball, boy scouts and the EDGE... Brad rarely had an evening off. We are very proud that Bradley made the honor roll with so many other things on his plate! Way to go BRAD!!!

HE LOVES ME . . .

Tom and I celebrated 17 years of wedded bliss this weekend! Well, if you consider going to a baseball game, volunteering for a BBQ & carwash fundraiser and attending training sessions a way to celebrate... Celebrating will just have to come in a few months. Looking forward to a week with the hubby when the kids are at TBarM summer camp. Until then, the obligatory flowers and love letter will have to tide me over! :o)
